Just finished reading this again for the second time. A belting book and a damn good try at putting the battle of Towton into perspective with the War of the Roses. I have trouble sorting my Yorks from My lancasters and this more or less made sense to me.

There is a website still currently under construction which is being set up in conjunction with the Towton Battlefield Archaeological Survey Project, an ongoing analysis of the entire battlefield area using existing data and new data gleaned from geophysical, field-walking and metal detectorist research. You have got to feel sorry for the poor bloke that bought Towton Hall. you spend all your life making widgets or what ever and get enough money to buy a nice little country house.....and find its built on a mass grave. or several mass graves, even.

Yeah but going by the numbers on the website they are on skellyngton 112. A bit of archeology in the gardens alright. I damn nearly bought a house cos it had a motte and baily in the back garden. Well when I say nearly bought I would have had to commit mortgage fraud, but its the thought that counts.

But over a hundred Corpses borders on taking the piss though, I mean its North Yorkshire. Wheres he going to bury the hitchhikers?

I would love to see if there was any "history of paranormal activity" before the bodies were found, snigger. I mean if they were Red Indians the place would have been a regular hells gate. You cant move a bleeding arrow head without being bothered by restless spirits.

But slap your house down on a charnal house in England and nothing stirs. Maybe our stiffs have a stiffer upper lip then their stiffs?

I bet there is going to be a lot of 'paranormal activity' now that they've found a few bodies though.....

Don't forget that their stiffs were probably abducted by aliens as well, that'd be enough to turn any stiff lip into jelly.

Yes, I felt really sorry for the guy who went back for seconds. I'd have though that the first time he got hit he would have got the idea he wasn't very good at this war business.
