It is definitely someone getting their name advertised through associating themselves with the Talpiot tomb allegations, the more specific of which are impossible to back up with scientific data. Even the provenance of the particular ossuary at the centre of the claim is dubious. Its current owner Oded Golan has publicly stated that he bought it from someone who claimed to have found it in Silwan, not Talpiot at all.
The whole thing reeks of opportunistic earners. Though by now they're all scrabbling around for whatever meagre remains Cameron and company have left them.
