World philosophy/religion with no coercion? Empty
PostSubject: World philosophy/religion with no coercion?   World philosophy/religion with no coercion? EmptyThu 26 Nov 2020, 17:34

With world philosophy/religion I mean a philosophy/religion, which at the end has conquered the world by sheer convincing of the adherents of that specific philosophy/religion

On the first sight for me isn't that possible without coercion, dictatorship as there will always be on earth groups of people having other "ideas" than the "current" one?
It is perhaps inherent to the "human" nature to defy each common accepted system, to see if it is not possible to have an alternative, seen as better in their own eyes?

Take now the Socialist international world philosophy that had already from the beginning dissidents. The Second Internationale already showed rifts over WWI and split in national Socialist parties in one country and the remaining Communist international party only consolidated in one country Russia and with a dictatorship.

Or for example the Abrahamic religions.

The international Catholic ones, trying by convincing/indoctrination, but mostly by conquering, to oblige the "infidels" to act and believe along their lines.
But at the end all these machinations were also contested and now this international movement is in the same way as Communism detoriated to a small group of adherents?
The same for, the more resistant to changes, international conquering Islamic religion, which nowadays evokes more and more resistance?

What think the contributors about all this? Hope that nordmann don't shoot my text down in flames...
