Why is it that all of Germany was so bad at fighting the Swedish forces during the Thirty Years' War(1618-1648 AD) despite the Swedish forces always being vastly outnumbered and having no help from other countries?

As for Germany, they got support from the Spanish Empire.

Very few Swedes died in the Thirty Years' War while the Germans never scored victories in that war.

You claim that the Swedes were 'always ... vastly outnumbered and having no help from other countries'.  What is your evidence for this?

According to Fuller in 'The Decisive Battles of the Western World' at the battle of Breitenfeld in 1631 Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden was allied with the Saxony and that their combined army was around 47,000 strong compared to 40,000 in the Imperial army commanded by Tilly.  He was therefore not 'vastly outnumbered' and had help from Saxony.

First my apologies for checking in here so rarely, I mostly blame my health.

At Gduj15662, you write 'all of Germany' as if it was one state at the time?

As far as I'm aware there were upwards of 400 more or less sovereign areas in what you call 'Germany' - each with its own interests - which more or less should answer your question.

Going back a decade or more there was a video included on this site about Europe's changing frontiers (not just German states) but the people owning the copyright made it so that only a link to the site owning the map can be put here.  https://www.historicalatlas.com/

Here is a link to the original thread.  changing - Europe's changing borders (forumotion.com)

Of course some regions changed "ownership" over the years.  Alsace and at least part of Lorraine were German once though off the top of my head I can't think of the relevant dates as relates to the Thirty Years War.  There was a time when Poland ceased to be a nation state - some of the former Poland was taken by German speaking people via the three partitions of Poland.
