This site has a facility for posting blogs - in appearance much like a discussion forum except the first post will appear as an article and subsequent posts as comments. The crucial difference with regard to internet presence is that the blog content is presented as metadata to search engines and therefore can play a crucial role with regard to encouraging visitors and, one hopes, membership.

To further differentiate a blog from the rest of the discussions here I propose that a category such as "Blogs" be set up, and then sub-categories such as "Fred's Blog", "Mary's Blog" etc will contain all the blogs from one member. I suggest that the member should attempt to blog consistently, and that their blogs should attempt to conform to a theme or style they themselves choose. Since this is a history website content relating to this theme is of course welcome. However it is by no means a compulsory feature of the blog. That it is well written, of potential interest to many and, of course, worth coming back to for further instalments are probably the only important criteria for inclusion.

Authors will also have full moderator control of their own blogs - in other words they can edit the content in whatever manner they see fit, from retrospectively improving previously posted content to excising inappropriate comment afterwards. I think, at least on a trial basis, that commentary should be open to guests also - though as this is a vulnerability with regard to how spammers attempt to infiltrate sites I will keep this option under constant review myself and close it if necessary.
