Another conspiracy story maybe, but then so were the German experiments on concentration camps victims considered to be after the end of  second world war, until it was proved beyond doubt that these experiments did happen.
And even horrific experiments were happening commited by Japanese scientists in World War 11 on civilians in Japanese camps.

Yes , it is all interesting reading but the question still remains if all of it is true or is it just conspiracy?

Dirk, I will always look for a natural explanation for events before going "down the rabbit hole".  The stories from Montauk were used as a basis for a TV show Stranger Things although ST is set in a different state to Long Island.  I found something from a Long Island newspaper (I wanted to find an account that wasn't from a conspiracy site) [url=5 Real-Life 'Stranger Things'-Montauk, Long Island Parallels]5 Real-Life 'Stranger Things'-Montauk, Long Island Parallels[/url]  I found some of the comments under the article interesting.  One person said "I used to work and (sic - should it be at?) Brookhaven Labs and I can tell you that the aliens I saw were the people that worked there, lol. The place had a weird vibe for sure".   Another said (comment shortened) "I have been inside rhic and other people that worked on it and built it.  Also grew up on li my whole life and know a lot of fishermen have been fishing there for many many years and no one ever saw anything".  A third commenter says "Lived in Montauk till I was in my 40s and my Dad was a nuclear engineer at Brookhaven lab.  No one any of us knew disappeared".  Someone else says "You're one of "them"......" (I think said as a joke).  There's one person who seems to have a tendency to believe conspiracy theories who says "if you listened they took homeless people and mostly kids from all over the country".....There aren't a vast number of comments under the article but the ones from local people seem to discount the tall tales which seems to tip the scales in favour of them being that, tall tales (to me at least).  I think there are people who tend to be intrigued by conspiracy theories and then there are folk who are by nature sceptics and then there are people like me who are somewhere in the middle.  Montauk does have a tourist trade so it's possible that mentioning similarities between the history (or alleged history) of Montauk and a quite popular TV series might be beneficial for the tourism industry.  The town of Montauk seems to have things going for it as a tourist destination on its own merits - near to nice beaches and a 200 year old light house among them.  If people have the mind set to believe a conspiracy then they may very likely believe it - I'm mentioning the Cottingley Fairies below as an example of people being disposed to believe a conspiracy (which in the CF case was a hoax).

Sometimes people play pranks as a joke - such as the Cottingley Fairies hoax from about 100 years ago in which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle became involved.  I think that case was mentioned on the hoax thread - in a nutshell two young girls took photographs of some cut-out fairy shapes and said they had photographed fairies.  I don't think the girls meant any harm by it but in the attached clip one of the girls (by then grown up) said that people "wanted to believe".  I suppose they were naughty but they had presence of mind to come up with a stunt like that and pull it off at the ages of 12 and 16.

You did mention in your reply that people living in that area like the fishermen etc never saw or heard anything about the place.
But then the camp  was a secret base in that sense that no one was to know what took place in and around the base.


Just from personal experiences during World War2,  I and many thousands of people walked daily past buildings for 5 years never knowing what actually happened in those buildings until after the war.
Some of the buildings were offices used by the German SD ,Gestapo holding and torturing prisoners and on many occasions murdering them inside the building.
Opposite one of those building housed a listening post operated by the Dutch resistance and was even used as a holding shelter for downed Allied air force crews. And there was no one, including the German SD and Gestapo, who had the slightest idea about this listening post  until after the war.

In other words , what I am trying to explain is the fact that things can go on without any one knowing about what it is all about.

As a matter of fact how many of us and even those people living close by know exactly what is happening at Porton Down.
