 Calling the conspirators Empty
PostSubject: Calling the conspirators    Calling the conspirators EmptyThu 11 Feb 2016, 19:39

Over to you:

"A human foot, wearing a shoe and a black sock, was found by a walker on Vancouver Island's Botanical Beach on Sunday.
What’s remarkable about that is that it’s the 13th such foot to have washed ashore on the 290-mile-long Canadian island since 2007.
Although, it must be stressed, one of the feet that washed up in 2008 is thought to have been a prank.
This latest foot is thought to have belonged to a person who died some time between March 2013 and December 2015. The shoe it was wearing was of a type first sold in the US in March 2013.
Barb McLintock, from the British Columbia Coroners Service, told CNN that the authorities do not suspect foul play.
She said officials believe the foot would have detached from its owner quite naturally after a prolonged period in the water.
Of the dozen or so feet found so far, only two have been left feet. Five feet from four separate individuals have been positively identified, and in those cases the cause of death was thought to have been suicide.
Several theories have been put forward to try to explain the odd phenomenon. It’s been suggested that the feet may belong to victims of the Boxing Day Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004 or of an air crash a year later, or that the feet are associated with a series of gangland murders.
Naturally, there are others who suspect a shadowy government conspiracy.
While there seems to have been a cluster of reports dating from the past decade, the floating foot mystery has been bubbling for at least a century.
On July 30, 1914, the Vancouver Sun reported the discovery of a human leg encased in a high boot on a beach near the mouth of the Salmon River

Oh Brenogler!! I did have a bit of a chuckle though.  Trying to put my thinking cap on maybe the rest of the legs have been nibbled by predators and only feet left protected by shoes.  I suppose cause of death could be accidental drowning, suicide, or any of the reasons mentioned by Dirk in the original post.

I think I mentioned on another thread I had enjoyed some of Kathy Reichs' thrillers (she is an American forensic anthropologist) and I think there was a book of hers in which a leg was found on its own - or legs were missing from the trunk of the body.  Of course being a thriller the body had been placed in water by someone up to no good and animals had consumed of the corpse.

I know this site is more "into" fact than speculation but I came across a (to me - not necessarily to others) tip sheet on Butte College website about conspiracy theories and conspiracism www.butte.edu/departments/cas/tipsheets/thinking/conspiracy.html

Not exactly a conspiracy, but does anyone know where the superstition of actors calling Macbeth "The Scottish Play" started.  I'd heard it was supposed to be unlucky to say the name of the play but I don't know why.  I was thinking of the music hall song (or monologue) The Night I appeared as MacBeth - including lines about the audience making the actor a present of Mornington Crescent by throwing it him brick by brick.  https://monologues.co.uk/musichall/Songs-N/Night-I-Appeared-As-MacBeth.htm and then my thoughts ran to wondering why mentioning the title of pay is considered bad luck.  Mind you it would be bad luck if someone threw Mornington Crescent at a person a brick at a time.

Just seen that Katie Hopkins is allegedly applying for a voluntary insolvency agreement after she was successfully sued.  My original post that I deleted had to do with people saying outrageous things with scant proof on the internet.  I suppose if someone says something strange about a thing they can get away with it; people can say that the earth is flat and the earth isn't going to turn round and sue them saying "No I'm a sphere".  Say something wrong that can't be proved about a person and it could come back and haunt the one saying the incorrect thing.

This isn't about a conspiracy theory - in fact it refutes them - but I wasn't sure where to post.  I was heartened to find "RationalWiki" which is rational and sensible.  https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Illuminati  Though I daresay the conspiracy theorists will say contributors to the site are part of "them".

Though I'm still no closer to solving Dirk's original post on this thread.

Just for a laugh - a lady uses an apple and a CD to prove that the sun is flat - well it may be nutty but at least it is a slightly different nuttiness from "the earth is flat". Also it is a short video - less than 2 minutes long. I don't know yet if I will post anything else today so I'll wish everyone a Happy New Year while I'm here.

afaik Macbeth used to be the standby - if a play was failing to bring in the punters, it would be taken off and the rewrite of "The Ballad of Macdobeth' was hastily rolled out in its place. It seems it occupied the place of "Dancing Queen" in the playlist of the desperate dj.
